Dear,

I am a new member on the website. I am from Belgrade, Serbia. Recently, I am the owner of the vehicle VW EOS. I have bought a used VW EOS because it was love at first sight, but I did know nothing about the convertibles. After a few days, I`ve noticed that the roof is leaking. Will you be so kind to advice me what should I do? What should be my first step? Where to start? VW dealer in Serbia have NO trained men for this kind of problems, so they can not help me. I am willing to come even to Greece if there is some service that could help me and advice me for the future steps about maintenance of the roof..

In order for us to able to help you further, you need to specify the point from where your roof is leaking. Nevertheless:

1. In case your problem comes from the front columns (A-pillar) you can find a DIY for fixing the problem at this link .

2. You can also find here a step-by-step guide for lubricating your roof.

3. Finally, here there is a video of the lubrication process that may be helpful.

Thank you very much for your quick answer. It seems to me that I will need a lot of time to study the problem. By the way, if I could not solve the problem by myself, could you advice me if there is any workshop in Greece where I can come to help me about this kind of problems? I could spent a lot of time on this problem and it could happen that I wont save the problem.. So, I am thinking, maybe it is the best for me to come in Greece and leave the vehicle to experienced people. Do you know who is the guy on the video about lubricating? Is that a repairman? Does he have a workshop?

He is not a repairman, he's one of the club's moderators who has also prepared the lubrication guide. As far as a proposed workshop is concerned, you could address to I.GRATSIAS S.A., which is an authorised workshop of VW located at Agia Paraskevi, Athens. The people there are adequately trained to handle roof problems. You can also contact KOSMOCAR, the Greek importer of VW, who can propose a workshop that can suit your needs, probably located at Thessaloniki (that suits you better because of the distance).

I want to ask you one more thing. On this website, I can find mostly diferent expeience of the owners of the EOS vehicles and there is no any repairman. Correct? If this is correct, how can I choose the right VW dealer in Greece? Can I fell free to choose the nearest dealer or can you advice me any VW dealer who is better then the others for this car model?

As I mentioned earlier, GRATSIAS workshop in Athens is know to be reliable, coming from experiences of other owners that have chosen it. Of course, this is a subjective point of view. The best way is to express your problem(s) to the official importer in Greece, who is the only authorised to provide such information, so as to find the best solution for your case.

Hello!

I think that you were right about the front columns.. I have found the leaking spots, now I have to fix it and I try to do it by myself. Thank you very much.

Anyway, I have two more leaking spots. The spots are somewhere above the passengers heads at the back seat. The picture attached. Do you have any instructions about these spots?

By the way, the car has very low miles and there are such problems.. I didn`t expect this with VW..

These problems are more or less common in all Eos. I don't think that this problem won't occur in somebody's car. It is just a matter of maintanance, and how much time you spent in the year in order to keep a good condition at the rubber seals. Eos needs as we always say, a little more care and attention than the other cars. Don't worry your Eos is the same as all the other Eos.

No, for these you need to perform a full lubrication of the roof, according to the guides we have already given to you. These two spots depend on how many times you maintain your roof (at least 4 times a year are needed in order to avoid leaking issues).

Eos has many rubber parts that require regular maintenance.

You've to lubricate the roof at least twice a year or else various problems will occur. Also, you must avoid leaving your car dirty for many days because dust and dirt will penetrate into the seals.

Additionaly, extreme weather conditions such as very high or very low temperatures can damage the rubber seals through time, causing crack sounds, noise and/or leakage problems.
If possible, you should avoid leaving your car covered by snow or under direct sun light at summer for many hours.

Moreover, pressure cleaning may gradually degrade the rubber seals. You shouldn't use power or pressure washers on the roof of your EOS car.

That is true for most convertibles which have hardtops.

I forgot to mention that the roof of my EOS makes a lot of noise. I will try to do the lubrication, but maybe it is time to replace the seals..

Are you sure this is the same lubricant? There is no word KRYTOX nor name of the producer DUPONT?

By the way, for how long could one 30 ml bottle last?

We turn off the ignition switch because we must interrupt the power supply at the electrohydraulic system of the roof. Unless we turn off the ignition, the system will overheat at, around, 8 minutes, causing the roof to start trembling and, finally, stuck.
